Episode 17
Starting with last week, it’s the white whale. we were really picky about the dialogue for “It’s the white whale!” from otto. We recorded numerous times to get it right.
The name “white whale” was briefly mentioned in episode 14. I would be pretty happy if everyone forgot about it together with subaru at the end of episode 16.
There’s a lot of content this episode, so everyone should keep their eyes glued to the screen! Forget about my tweets!

by the way, Otto’s land dragon is called “furufuu”(floof?). He has been loved and with Otto for a really long time.

when subaru is knocked out by Rem, the bgm stops at the same time as his conscious. The director did that.
This line was cut, but before leaving the capital. Rem says “Rem will always protect subaru kun from behind”. Subaru’s response was “You just need to stay behind me and watch.”
[He also tweeted out “dai seibatsu”. which is translated as “a conquest” (referring to otto’s speech about how Lugunica assembled a force to take down the white whale.) probably something to keep in mind.]

The white whale has logged in.
Otto throws the lamp to discard any reason for the white whale to chase them. Subaru realises then why they're being chased.
Suddenly becoming violent.. well~ i guess it can’t be helped for Otto. There were other reasons too.
In the moment when subaru rolls, you can see it being cut to his point of view and the camera rolls too.

Don’t worry. The desperate subaru cracked a small smile so the the children laughed with him, but after that they noticed how bad the situation was for him and called the adults.

We wanted to do this scene so other than the first episode, we refrained from showing emilia’s dead body. In episode 14/15, there are hints to it. We only wanted to show 2 situations. “Being unable to save her” and “Subaru killing emilia”. Sorry.
Been awhile since we saw beatrice. She wouldn’t listen to subaru’s wish. I wonder how she must be feeling at that moment.

In advance, Rem instructs Roswaal about the movements around the kingdom. For that sake, She meets with crusch every night. Subaru doesn’t know about this.
The Crusch that is curious about the unknown (subaru’s phone) and the cute Felis.
Crusch can see through any lie with her divine protection of wind reading. (However there are exceptions. Felis has been with her for a long time and can sometimes fool her)

The purpose of Subaru calling on those two is to increase the persuasive power in this negotiation.

I feel that the contents behind the discussions were carefully thought and corrected by Anastasia, Russell and Rem. (the hunting proposal is from Subaru)

Thanks for hanging around for episode 19! By the way, There were a lot of discussions about certain events in this episode, but the thing we disputed the most was Subaru’s ringtone! Ringtones like Shinji Tanimura’s “Subaru”, “Senjo no merry christmas” (Merry christmas battlefield), “Sushi kuine!” (eat sushi) were suggested. We decided to choose something Subaru would choose and settled on “Yoake no michi”. ("Flanders no Inu" (1975) OP - "Yoake no Michi") But even after we decided on that, there was still a lot of problems!
First off, everyone’s hearing is no joke. (basically saying that you can recognize something just from sound) We wanted to record the Yoake no michi playing from Subaru’s phone, which began the mission to get our hands on a galapagos phone.
Well, there were a lot of things that happened, but in the end we found the actual model on yahoo auctions. Cheers were had. Link to image of said phone here
However, that wasn’t the end of it. We needed to get the sound from the phone but phones at this age played music in 4 chords or 6 chords and could play little music. No one would bother to make tones for this in this day and age.
Just for this scene, we created a “yoake no michi with less chords, put it in the phone, placed it infront of the mic at our recording studio and the dubbing staff puts it in. "Why do we go through such efforts……!” was the kind of work we did. Everyone’s smiles are engraved in me.
All that effort and time was for that last minute and a half scene. Of course, the People of the isekai do not know this song, so they do not feel any languish by it. Putting aside the feelings of what everyone else feels when they saw this scene, i would be happy if the result was what we were aiming for.
Regarding the advancement towards the white whale war, there was a lot of preparation in one night. We have hidden a bunch of interesting points that might have been missed from just viewing it once. It would be great if you watch it a 2nd time. It’s amazing to see that felis looks good from all angles.
Episode 20
EPISODE STARTS—
There are times when a character's name is used as the title for the episode to highlight that character. This is one of those times.
This is around 40 years prior to current events, where the kingdom of lugunica is shaken up by the demihuman war.
Who exactly is this man and woman?

That modern looking weapon is a magic stone cannon that shoots magic stones. It costs quite a bit to use so it can't be used often. The "night banisher magic stone" is even more so. the stone creates a fake sun in the sky.
We pictured the white whale to be bigger than a blue whale in terms of size comparison.
It's to bring the white whale to light before it hides in the fog. An offensive measure for an opening to catch the white whale

For the most part, Magical beasts are designed to make you repulsed psychologically. When you look closely at the white whale, you can see thickly overgrown fine hairs making it even more disturbing.
That's gotta hurt.
Getting stronger after receiving damage is pretty much a thing between monsters and the "earth defence force" isn't it.

An eyeball fell, but it was the white whale's and not subaru's so it's okay.
To comply with the passionate requests, we drew it firmly.
B part start!
Emitting a thick fog that covers the fake sky, the presence of the white whale was lost. The atmosphere of not knowing what could happen in the fog is similar to the first half of episode 17.
That dodge was the land dragon's own decision.
In preparation for this battle, the units were split into 15 men per unit. As a result, when being "eaten" by the fog, they are not sure WHO disappeared, but can count the numbers and know how many are missing.
It's not drawn, but Cornwood (while bringing home theresia's sword) was apologizing to Wilhelm the whole way home even before he met him.
There are two types of fog used by the white whale. "Mind contamination" and "Elimination". The "mind contamination" was seen in episode 17. Otto was affected by it a little but that wasn't the only thing for him in particular.

The presence was behind him, but it came from the front. (nagatsuki dropping hints)
Wilhelm too was unable to do anything against the fog.
Hetaro's and Mimi's "WAAAA!" and "HAAAA!" is the sibling's "warcry wave". Only with the cooperation from these 3 [sic] siblings can they do this deathblow.
Like the calm before the storm.
That fog is an "elimination" fog.
It should be from the top, but it came from the back.

Instead of taking a hit for subaru, Ricardo might have wanted to use subaru to counter his own smell. But~ he also has the kind of personality that would want o save any kid in danger in front of him too.

It was shown in bits and pieces, but instead of saying it's the first meeting of the "master swordsman" Theresia and the "demon swordman" Wilhelm, it's more appropriate to say it's the state in which their bond begins to deepen. With no reason in regards to the two of them meeting at the flower garden, i get a lot of "love at first sight" talks. (i apologize for the weird translation here. it's hard to phrase it into sentences so it most likely is not as accurate as i like it to be)

The name of that familiar face (julius) aside, the name of the earth dragon he is riding on is "Shaknar". In the fairy tales/old tales, the hero's dragon is called "Ayaka".

Basically from the very first look, Subaru can tell that the witch's cult had no plans on "tricking" subaru, so it was relatively safe for subaru to lure them out.

the "invisible hand" has to interfere with reality the moment it touches something. Wilhelm's sword can then interfere with it. Willhelm's way of looking at the "invisible hand" is something like N'Dour. *

With the priority of evacuating the mansion and the village, the original plans from otto and gang have now returned.

Wilhelm's method of seeing the "invisible hand" is by using the pond water to rain down from above. When the "invisible hand" passes through, the rain would be interrupted and he is able to guess where it is. Among his traveling companions, only Wilhelm can do this.

Episode 23
EPISODE STARTS—
Starting right from last week, in this mysterious isolation.
The first realisation of being in an illusion = [Patrasche is not being friendly]
Julius, able to resist the illusion with his own strength.
The spirts floating in the palm of Julius's hand are not "artificial spirits", but "quasi spirits". They are slightly of higher status when compared to the "artificial spirits" and he has brought 6 of them, which is pretty unusual.
The older sister quickly captures Subaru and was about to withdraw but Wilhelm, who is the first out of everyone else to break from the illusion, interferes.
"Ram can use illusion magic??" is what many might be thinking, but the effect of the illusion actually comes from a toxin in that blue flower. Ram used wind magic to spread the poison to influence the subjugation corps. if only Julius, who was able to resist it, wasn't there.....

The handwritten letter was sent to the mansion before the subjugation of the white whale regarding information related to the witch's cult. Presently, it's just a small prop.
If capturing Subaru has not been the main priority for the older sister, she would have been able to easily take down the main force of the subjugation corps. But she didn't.
In order to not cause any confusion/chaos among the villagers with the witches cult, they wanted to hide that but everyone was vaguely aware or it. The merchants helping with the evacuation were brought along without being told about it as well.
Felis is cute... nay, friendly...
It was decided to say "witch's cult? no. We're exterminating bandits in the forest" to ease the situation. It was impossible.

With Peteko in episode 22 and the breaking of this illusion, both are thanks to the power of the quasi spirit "Ia". Julius attached it to Subaru.
In the midst of "Nect", we reviewed multiple times on what everyone was saying.
"A grey colored cat" Oh! They're talking about me? Isn't it me??*
**(Tappei's twitter handle is "nezumi iro nyanko" which translates to grey coloured cat. Fun fact, he uses "nezumi iro" which means "colour of a rat" instead of just using a word like "grey". so you can read this as "rat coloured cat" as well.)
Felis's combat power is none.
By the way, this person is "Ketty-san". He actually appears in previous time loops too.
"world's gentlest hands" was said by Felis's treasured friend.

The ones that notified Emilia were the ones who brought the wounded to the mansion, Ram and Felis. Felis might have stopped Ram from going with her.
Might be a bit late, but Emilia-tan is the kind of person who would kill any opponent with an intent to kill back.
Overthrowing the witch's cult and the eyes of everyone watching Emilia do it. And the reason for Emilia's tears...
Still though, doesn't it look like Felis is nude with only an apron on? *

Subaru, prioritized withdrawing from Emilia rather than talking to her
Ia who was attached to subaru removes itself after that heart thump.
The 6th person, Subarugeuse.
"Curse me, Subaru-kyun."
In the same way with Ketty, Felis uses his magic and makes the "water" flow in the opponent's body run wild which will kill him. Doing it to the body that Petelgeuse enters, he too cannot resist it. At the end with his sword, Julius assists to end the suffering of his partner.
If it was not for Felis's decision, Julius would [NEVER] be able to assist in Subaru's suicide and the possibility that Subarugeuse wll attack the village is high. Felis's judgement was cold hearted but right. Whether he wanted to do it or not is a separate matter.
Regarding the last fight between Emilia and Petelgeuse, in the same way as how Wilhellm does it, she used floating ice to created diamond dust to be able to see the "invisible hand". Wilhelm relies on his body and strength to take it down whereas Emilia used her strong magical powers. Both have the strength to deal with it.

By the way, i wouldn't say that Felis tears are not for Subarus sake, but majority of it is for another reason. The reason he cries is.... WHAT? You can know about it in Re:zero EX1 [The dream the lion king saw]??!

Oh yeah, before i go to bed. I had chills after i heard kobayshi's voice acting for Subarugeuse. You could feel a sense of being possessed and then suddenly in control again without needing the eye glints to tell. It was amazing.
Seriously speaking, just saying thank you is not enough to everyone who acted as Petelgeuse. Moreover because this is content from vol.8, this was written after the anime meetings started. "I never would have thought the anime would become like this" was the excuse i give

If Julius had Pokemon, he's probably have all the eeveelutions on hand.
All the Quasi-spirits that Julius brought along are female. Their names are Ia, Kua, Aro, Iku, In, Nesu. These little buds and their husband have been together for over 10 years. #suddenstorysetting
Now then, this week is episode 24. 24... it's 24! It will end after today and next week. Are you serious... that's so fast. let's go full throttle until the end!
Livetweeting while watching the anime is one of the things i wanted to do as an author. I've always prepared myself to be called "noisy" every week. When it first started, i thought about how fast it went by. It went by so quickly.
When the anime ends, it'll be lonely not being able to meet with Keyakizaka-san and the rest.

From the previous episode, we'll be resuming from when Subaru was possessed by Petelgeuse, with Julius and Feris assisting in his death.
The place of return is during the meeting with the corps after the White whale subjugation.

You might think Subaru recovers quickly after death, but in actuality there's a bit of time where he is shaken.

A blank personal letter meant a declaration of war. Emilia was very troubled over that decision.
The corps have already arrived at the village. Other than emilia, everyone is aware of the situation. Prioritizing evacuation over the takedown of Petelgeuse, what's the main character thinking....?
Because of the "recognition-prevention robe", this new person that just entered does not seem suspicious. Also the preparedness from Puck.

"Netch" synchronises with the target's senses. Due to Julius's and the quasi-spirits's prowess, Julius and Subaru's senses are able to not overlap each other and therefore Julius is able to "see" Subaru's "point of view". As long as Subaru's eyes don't look away, the "unseen hand" is visible.
Against Petelgeuse, Subaru chose the possibility of "being able to see the unseen hand" as his trump card. The strength to fighting head on = Julius Euclius. That's what he decided.
"Self proclaimed knight subaru" from episode 13 to episode 24's "Self proclaimed knight and the greatest knight" is a title i really liked as the author.

Regarding Petelgeuse's "unseen hand". In normal circumstances, there are usually 7 arms. However, it's very obvious that at the end, there was a huge amount of them. This is because with the lack of "fingers" to possess, his divided strength all came back to him.
**i'm not really sure how to translate this but there isn't any other way to deal with the fingers but to kill them, but only feris is able to extract information about th einner workings of the witch religion from them (and is what he does behind the scenes). Julius closes his eyes here so that he can view from Subaru's POV and avoid having double vision with his own POV.
Of course, leaving the POV to Subaru means that Julius is fighting a 3 dimensional fight similar to a third person shooter style. It's Julius that's why he can do it.
A rainbow orbits around Julius. What grace, what elegance, truly "the finest"!!
The theory behind petelgeuse's possession is that he uses his own powers as a spirit to force his way in to a contract. He is able to possess anyone with basic fundamentals with spirits, so he's a natural enemy with spirit users. This is the evil spirit, Petelgeuse Romanee Conti.
Last time when being under Petelgeuse's possession, to affect him when Felis used his magic to destroy the circulatory system in the body, Subaru thought that he would be able to defeat Petelgeuse if his body took damage and so he took advantage of his "return from death" penalty.
Because the other "fingers" in the forest have been defeated by the other corp members, Petelgeuse has no spare bodies for "possession" to take place. Petelgeuse's demise. "You... are really slothful."
with regards to the trap in the dragon cart, Subaru and the others assumed that the bodies petelgeuse has prepared known as the "fingers" each had their own "self destruct" method. In episode 23 and the cart explosion, Subaru figured out the item that the "finger" Ketty used to self destruct. This time, Ketty was engaged in battle with Wilhelm and therefore did not explode himself. The magic stones of fire and it's incomplete detonation was kept to be used. Subaru figured that if the fingers were dealt with, the stones would not explode.
The one who noticed the missing Magic stones of fire was the one who was rescued from the witch's cult and the one who missed the opportunity to profit from helping the villagers escape, Otto. He thought to at least do an inventory check. Here he shows his competence, but this is only the beginning of his agony～♪
Otto's "Soul of language" is a divine protection that allows one to be able to converse with another living being. When in use, the language of the targeted being is spoken. If speaking to a land dragon, Otto speaks with cries of the dragon. To a cat, he meows. To a bat, a soundwave. With this power he is able to decide on a big shortcut.
Now, Otto's divine protection is pretty powerful. In episode 17 when he was hired by Subaru, he hears the white whale's voice reach his ears..... is what i'd like to think is what caused his madness. *

With Emilia's side, even though Wilhelm had to stop, the witch's cult's pursuit was interfered. Unparalleled Wilhelm.
The children at this time were instructed by Subaru carefully. If the children had not held her back, he worries that there is a possibility that Emilia will go back and fight. The children were entrusted to Emilia. Only Petra, who understood exactly the motive of this, goes "a-cha-".

I've mentioned it before, but the the dragon cart has the divine protection "Wind protection"* from the dragon. Because of this, the cart is not affected by wind resistance or traveling tremors. As a result, when Petelgeuse entered the cart, he also came under the influence of that protection.
*not sure what the official translation is
There's a limited radius of a few meters in which one is influenced by "wind protection". If any part of the body leaves the area, the protection will be lifted on the person. When Petelgeuse reaches out to catch the gospel that Subaru threw, he leaves the radius and is hit with a ton of wind resistance.
The gospel that shows the future, with the words "Owari (end)" written on it. This is the last of the evil spirit Petelgeuse Romanee Conti.
Of course it's written with those letters. There were so many opportunities to learn the language... people that didn't are truly slothful huh?

Reunion
Emilia's "why" is a continuation from the quarrel at the castle. At that time, Subaru had a million things he wanted to say, but summarized it into a single sentence.
Here in order to reduce the damage from the Magic stones of fire, Subaru uses the inside of the white whale's body. The head was brought back with Crusch when she returned but the body was left in a frozen state. Put the Magic stones of fire in and evacuate.
Here, Patrasche covers Subaru with her body. Is she a goddess?
In episode 23, the magic stones of fire were set off prematurely and was not at it's full potential. This time the stones were charged to it's full potential and thus the firepower can not be compared to the previous time.
The subjugation corps members... there were wounded but none deceased. I think you call this a "success". "Return to death" victory.

The long lasting repetition of trials and despair. Finally overcoming it, the calm and quiet time just for the two of them. This is just a story of how this moment is obtained.
Getting detoured, continuing to stray away, getting lost, it's just that kind of story. A boy with no confidence trying to convey his feelings for a girl with no confidence. Just for that, i did my best.
